Event Details

Ohio EPA is offering a free workshop to inform small and rural communities of the state and federal resources available to redevelop blighted properties known as brownfieldsThe speakers will present strategies for identifying and prioritizing brownfield properties; grants, loans and services available to help communities with brownfield redevelopment; and computer programs for brownfield management and grant writing.

Speakers from Ohio EPA, Ohio Department of Development, U.S. EPA, U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development office and Kansas State University (which provides assistance to small communities through a U.S. EPA grant) will address the following topics:

The Site Assistance & Brownfield Revitalization Program (SABR) serves as the contact for brownfields or contaminated sites not yet in any cleanup program (e.g., VAP, remedial response, Superfund, RCRA corrective action).   In the past 15 years, Ohio EPA has helped revitalize more than 6,000 acres of blighted land at more than 300 sites across the state.
